ORIENTAL GENTLEMAN IN EWER AUTOMATON. A marvelous automaton of a traditional “Man from China” contained within a highly decorated and lidded ewer (urn). Upon activation, the lid slowly opens to reveal an elaborately costumed gentleman (slight fraying to clothing) with a Fu Manchu mustache. He then proceeds to raise his right arm, bringing the teacup up to his mouth as his head turns while music plays, then suddenly he disappears back into the urn. SIZE: 13” (closed). CONDITION: Overall very good with chipping and scuffing to papier-mâché ewer. JL 1-2770 (3000-4000)
