OUTSTANDING MARQUETRY INLAID AND EBONIZED ROSEWOOD CHEST WITH MIRROR ATTRIBUTED TO HERTER BROS. Base has two drawers over two doors. Flanked by carved ribbed, fluted and turned side columns, which support the overhanging drawers. A green molded edge replaced marble top supports the large matching mirror with full round columns that match the columns on the base. Large crest with 11” carved woman’s profile. Ormolu mounts decorated paneled areas and bead strips around doors, drawers, columns and mirror. Multiple colored marquetry inlays in floral design in mirror and drawer fronts. Bottom inset panel has marquetry tall vase of flowers decorated with vine and scroll work. Chest rests on bun feet. SIZE: Finest quality and typical of the type of inlay and presentation that Herter Bros. is known for. SIZE: 82” h x bottom case 41” x 24”. CONDITION: Very good.
