IN THE MANOR OF RUFUS PORTER (American, 1792-1884) COPY OF THE DANIEL CARR HOUSE FRESCO. The house, located in North Haverhill, NH has almost identical scene but slightly different. Theirs has two flags flying right with smoke from chimney the same way. This one has single flag with flag and smoke going left. This scene shows a Colonial house on hill with front entryway lined with white fence and poplar trees. Black cows are seen grazing with a white tower at top of hill. Painted on a wood thin panel. We believe this to be a 20th Century copy. REFERENCE: Rufus Porter Yankee Pioneer by Jean Lipman page 121. SIZE: 12-1/8” x 16-3/4”.
