GEORGE BENJAMIN LUKS (American, 1867-1933) RED HEADED CLOWN. Oil on canvas half portrait of a young girl with red hair in a green, pink collared clown suit wearing a black top hat with large pink and black flower. All against a deep blue background. Unsigned front but signed on reverse & inscribed illegibly. Housed in a modern gilt carved wood frame with artist plaque. NOTE: Accompanying the lot is a hand written letter from the previous owner stating that it came from the Estate of collector William Robinson who directly purchased it from the heirs of the artist. SIZE: 22″ x 18″. CONDITION: Three canvas repairs to reverse with corresponding inpainting. Very good. 9-21500 (6,000-8,000)
