*VERY EARLY COLT COMMERCIAL GOVERNMENT MODEL PISTOL. Cal. 45 ACP. First year production with the last patent date of 1911, thin front sight and round top rear sight. The serial number is in small numerals on the left forward side of the frame, the right side of the frame is marked “Colt Automatic/Calibre 45” and it has “government model” in small letters on the right forward side of the frame. It is equipped with niter blue trigger, slide lock, thumb safety, hammer and magazine release and is fitted with large diamond checkered walnut grips. It has a post war commercial magazine. SN C687. CONDITION: Good to very good, the slide is flaked to about 70% high polish bright original blue with the flaked areas a light patina with very fine pitting. The frame retains 90-93% high polish bright original blue with thinned front strap and dulled spring housing. The trigger, slide lock, thumb safety, and hammer retain generous amounts of their original bright niter blue. Grips show moderate wear with one battered screw. Bbl is a later replacement with worn dark bore. 4-50043 JR316 (1,500-2,500)
