CHARLES BLACKMAN (Australian, 1928-) “BOIS DE BOLOGNE”. Oil on masonite modernist scene shows a woman walking right to left with four dark trees and a bright sunlit background. A man with hat sits against a tree facing right. Signed lower left and dated “70”. On reverse is a Johnstone Gallery, Brisbane Australia label. Also the title and artist’s name with a number “7” in a circle. Another label from Young’s Pty. Ltd. Transporters of Fine Arts & Antiques. This painting was part of the Johnstone Gallery’s exhibition of October 30th-November 21st, 1970 entitled “An Experience of Paris” “Park/Cathedral/City” “Charles Blackman”. This painting is from the Park series and numbered “7” with its title. A copy of the exhibition catalog accompanies the lot. Housed in its original partial gilt frame with linen liner.
