GEORGE HENRY BOUGHTON (American, 1833-1905) NAPOLEON’S SUPPLY CART. . Large unsigned and unframed oil on canvas winter scene shows a 8 horse team of horses pulling a heavily laden hay wagon through deep snow. The fury of the winter can be seen with the blowing snow and huddled men atop two horses. A copy of the photograph of the back before relining showing a canvas stamp of “P. DECHAUX & CO NEW YORK” accompanies painting. Ref: This painting and the two previous paintings were purchased in Maine and thought to be survivors of the Bar Harbor fire of 1947. SIZE: 32″ x 52″. CONDITION: At one time this painting was cut from its stretcher and rolled (possibly losing its signature). It presently has been attached to a new larger canvas for mounting to stretcher, which could be reversed. Inpainting with restoration, very good. 9-26757 (3,000-5,000)
