HENRY ARTHUR ELKINS (American, 1847-1884) LANDSCAPE WITH COWS, BIRDS & FISHERMAN. Oil on canvas scene shows a lone fisherman at edge of pond on a slight hillside pasture with cows and sheep. A split rail fence keeps them from the background woods. A crow is perched on dead tree with other birds in a cloud and light blue sky. Signed lower left “H A Elkins”. Housed in a fine period gilt gesso decorated frame with gilt liner. SIZE: 14″ x 20″. CONDITION: Canvas patch to reverse with corresponding inpainting. Very good. 9-92009 (6,000-8,000)
