GEORGE M. HATHAWAY (American, 1852-1903) “VIEW OF THE COWLES’ FISHING VILLAGE AT NIGHT”. Oil on canvas scene shows a building with lights on in window and open doorway leading to a dock with sailboat. A full moon is seen over mountain and water. Signed lower left with initials “GH”. A letter from Michael Hathaway accompanies lot, which authenticates painting from a signed drawing titled “Old Cowles Fishing Village” and describes the property as the Hiram Cowles property located on the Hudson River north of Port Ewen and Kingston. Housed in what may be its original flower and leaf decorated deep gesso gilt frame. SIZE: 12” x 18”. CONDITION: Small quarter size patch to reverse. Otherwise very good. 9-25034 (2,000-3,000)
