EMILE ALBERT GRUPPE (American, 1896-1978) “MOTIF #1”. Large oil on canvas Rockport Harbor scene shows two men working together on a large cut log. In the background is the connected famous fish house (Motif #1) situated in Rockport Harbor. A two-mast green hulled schooner with dory are docked beside and the right side can be seen the town pier with its angled stairway to a dock with boat. Several sails are seen in the harbors mist. A wonderful view from the Bear Skin Neck side looking across Rockport Harbor. Signed lower right. Housed in what appears to be its original weathered light gray frame. Titled, signed and dated “1964” on reverse of stretcher. SIZE: 30″ x 36″. CONDITION: Very good with small area of inpainting by right bottom post. 9-99996 (8,000-12,000)
