AIME JULES DALOU (French, 1838-1902) SCIENCE AND THE ARTS. Outstanding pair of bronze plaques. One depicting the sciences showing a clothed woman standing on a step in a shell topped alcove with globe, protractor and chemist bottle at her feet. She holds a compass in one hand, the other under chin. The second depicts a semi-nude woman standing in an identical alcove strumming a lyre at her hip and having an artist pallet, and music score at her feet. Signed lower left. These are period bronzes, circa 1900. SIZE: 23-3/4″ x 8″. CONDITION: Uneven patina, otherwise very good. 9-97817 (4,000-8,000)
