JOHANN JAKOB MEIER (MEYER) (Russian/Swiss 1787-1858) THE PALACES AND MUSEUMS OF DETSKOE SELO – ST. PETERSBURG. Unframed watercolor shows a great detailed rendering of the Catherine Palace in St. Petersburg, Russia. Building topped with several gold onion-shaped towers, with fine garden and impressive other buildings. Signed lower left J.J. Meier. Watercolor has been mounted to light green cardboard and comes in original presentation folder with inscription indicating it was presented to Mr. Bullitt (U.S. Ambassador to Russia in the 1930’s) as a memory of his visit.
