EMILE ALBERT GRUPPE (American, 1896-1978) “SUGARING IN VERMONT”. Fine oil on canvas winter New England scene shows a man in red coat, pants & cap tending to sugar buckets on tall maple trees with the sugar shack in the background. Signed lower right. Signed and titled on reverse. A wonderful example of Gruppe’s technique of using heavy impasto to produce bold and colorful scenes. Housed in a painted wood frame with white liner. SIZE: 20″ x 24″.
