EMILE ALBERT GRUPPE (American, 1896-1978) SUNLIT REFLECTIONS. Outstanding large oil on canvas winter scene shows a stream winding through light woods with snow and tree lined banks. The foreground is in the shadows while the background shows the sunlight reflecting off the water and sunlit trees with blue sky beyond. Signed lower right. Housed in a stained wood replacement frame with linen and gilt liner. At some point the canvas was restretched over a slightly smaller stretcher. SIZE: 32″ x 39″.
