SAMUEL COLMAN (American, 1832-1920) “ROCKS NEAR COMPTON”. Oil on board scene shows a river with wooden bridge and rocky shoreline with trees under blue sky. Remnants of the signature can be seen lower left. Housed in a gesso decorated gilt frame with shaped cutout matte. On reverse are two Barridoff Gallery labels, one indicating the provenance as Estate of the artist. SIZE: Sight: 9-1/4″ x 14″. PROVENANCE: Dr. Ladd Heldenbrand Estate, So. Portland, Maine.
