GEORGE HENRY BOUGHTON (American/British 1833-1905) “THE ROSE GARDEN”. Outstanding oil on canvas mounted on wood panel shows a full view of a young woman in Summer ivory/yellow dress standing amongst roses in a formal garden. A black tiger cat is on her shoulder and she holds roses in her hand. The backdrop is a high brick wall lined with trees and roses. Signed lower right “G.H. Boughton”. Housed in its original pierced gilt fancy frame, having artist plaque. On reverse are two exhibition labels, one an old Vose Galleries of Boston, Mass, with artist and title. SIZE: 24″ x 16″.
