JAY HALL CONNAWAY (American, 1893-1970) “MEN OF THE SEA”. Oil on canvas shows four Maine fisherman in yellow trying to remove a sail or a net from beneath the fallen mast of a ship on rough seas; behind them a large white-crested wave breaks under gray sky. Signed lower right “Connaway”. Housed in what may be its original decorated carved wood frame, on back of which is the paintings original Milch Galleries, New York City, label with title and artist’s name. SIZE: 25″ X 30″.
