THEODORE EARL BUTLER (American, 1861-1936) HUNTERS AT REST IN GIVERNY. Large oil on canvas summer scene shows a field with tree border with several hunters in the background with hunting dogs. Foreground has a large tree under which two hunters are taking a rest; one sits with dog beside, the other stands next to tree. Signed lower left “TE Butler 1912″. Housed in a fine replacement gilt gesso decorated frame with linen gold edge liner. An outstanding example by this artist. SIZE: 46-1/2″ x 46”. CONDITION: Reinforced edges on a new stretcher, minor touch up, very good. 9-26052 (20,000-30,000)
