DANIEL RIDGWAY KNIGHT (American/French 1839-1924) ON THE TERRACE AT ROLLEBOISE. Outstanding and large oil on canvas scene shows a young woman standing proudly in French country dress holding a large watering can. She looks proudly over her flower garden with a low stone wall beside. Backdrop is a calm winding river with sloped hillside and banks. All under a blue and white cloud sky. Signed lower left “Ridgway Knight Paris”. An outstanding example of Knight’s work with an expansive flower garden and an attractive woman. Housed in an outstanding gesso decorated floral motif gilt frame with wide gilt liner. NOTE: This work will be included in Howard L. Rehs forthcoming Catalogue Raisonne to be published by Rehs Galleries Inc. SIZE: 32″ x 26″. PROVENANCE: Henry Hornblower, Arlington, Virginia. M.
