NIFTY TOONERVILLE TROLLEY WITH ORIGINAL BOX. One of the most popular toys ever made by Nifty is the Toonerville Trolley. This toy was a spin-off from the comics in the 1920s. Windup trolley is lithographed in red and yellow with “TOONERVILLE TROLLEY” on both sides, and on bottom “copyrighted 1922 by Fontaine Fox”. Fontaine Fox was also the writer of the comic strip. When wound the skipper with hand on the trolley turns, and it moves erratically. Accompanied with original box with manufacturer’s label showing the trolley in action. SIZE: 5″ l x 7″ h. CONDITION: Overall nearly excellent condition. Original key is missing and one dark spot on top of roof. Otherwise lithography is very bright and shiny.
