THEODORE VICTOR CARL VALENKAMPH (American, 1868 – 1924) SAILING THE HIGH SEAS. Fine oil on canvas nautical scene shows a tall ship with partial sails up plying through heavy waves under blue and cloud sky. The boat crests through a deep trough and crashing through a white tip wave as it sails at an angle toward viewer. Several seagulls are seen on either side of the ship. Signed lower right. Housed in a period frame retaining a “J. W. Thomas Gloucester, MA” framing label. SIZE: 20″ x 30″. CONDITION: Very good with very minor touch up. 9-20507 (1,500-2,000)
