SOLON FRANCIS MONTECELLO BADGER (American, 1873-1919) UNDER FULL SAIL. Oil on board nautical scene shows a white hulled two-mast sailboat sailing right to left in full sail. Four figures can be seen on the boat and the American flag flies off the back mast. A low point of land with building can be seen off the bow. Signed lower right “SFM Badger 1888″. Housed in a period gesso decorated gilt frame. The back also signed and dated. The board having a Frost & Adams Academy board label. An early work by this nautical artist. SIZE: 12-1/4″ x 18-1/2”.
