AIDEN LASSELL RIPLEY (American, 1896-1969) PORTRAIT OF A SOCIALITE. Outstanding oil on canvas three-quarter portrait of a young woman in flower print dress seated at an angle looking toward the viewer. On her right is a model of a schooner on a stand and to her left is a portion of a framed painting. Her hands are clasped in her lap which rests a white mink collared coat. Signed lower right. Housed in a fine antique decorated frame which has been branded “Thulin 1929 # 2074″. A small brochure accompanies lot from the time it was exhibited at the Guild of Boston Artists Sept. 10-28 1996.
