PORTRAIT OF GERONIMO. This late 19th century charcoal or pastel portrait of Geronimo depicts him holding a Springfield carbine in a crouched position with one of the most famous Indian leaders of all times. Geronimo was one of the last Indian chiefs to surrender to the U.S. Army. The portrait is signed in the lower left, N. A. Ross, unframed. SIZE: 26” x 32”. CONDITION: Restored to what is now generally excellent. Photographs of the picture prior to restoration are mounted on the back of the canvas. 4-50102 (500-1,000)
