CARL E. LAWLESS (American, 1894-1964) “SNOW STORM”. Outstanding large oil on canvas winter scene shows a valley floor with large farm having several red barns with intersecting hill and mountain backdrop. Foreground with a meandering stream having some open water with ice. Heavy snow covers the ground and the scene is amidst a heavy snowfall. Signed lower left. Housed in its original magnificent gilt carved wood frame with front glass. Frame has a plaque award “Honorable Mention Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts Fifteenth Annual Exhibition Hartford, 1925″. On reverse is an exhibition label from the Carnegie Institute, Pittsburgh, PA. SIZE: 30″ x 30”. CONDITION: Very good original condition. 9-25938 (30,000-40,000)
