GEORGE HAROLD BAILEY (American, Early 20th Century) PORTRAIT OF THE RACEHORSE “BILL WELLMAN”. Oil on canvas stable scene shows the brown thoroughbred standing on a floor with hay, head towards the feeding trough. On the right side is a grain bucket inscribed “Bill Wellman Sept 13, 1867”. Signed lower right “Geo. H. Bailey, 1870″. Housed in its find gesso decorated gilt frame with gilt liner. SIZE: 16″ x 22”. PROVENANCE: Barbara J.
