Oil on canvas stable scene shows the brown thoroughbred standing on a floor with hay, head towards the feeding trough. On the right side is a grain bucket inscribed “Bill Wellman Sept 13, 1867”. Signed lower right “Geo. H. Bailey, 1870″. Housed in its find gesso decorated gilt frame with gilt liner. SIZE: 16″ x 22”. PROVENANCE: Barbara J. Thornsjo Estate, Albion, Maine CONDITION: Dirty with four small pinholes, light craquelure, otherwise good. 9-20865 (1,000-2,000)
