VIVIAN MILNER AKERS (American, 1886-1966) “BETTY AND TSAO-KUO”. This outstanding oil on canvas was exhibited at the National Academy of Design in New York City, 1936; National Arts Club, 1937; Plainfield Art Association, 1937; Mont Clarie N.J. Museum 1937 and Wilmington Society of Art, 1943 where it received 2nd popularity vote (this is inscribed on back of canvas). Also titled, signed and dated 1935 on back of canvas. The portrait is of Elizabeth Joyce Joslin of Norway, Maine and her Siamese cat. It shows the young girl seated in a blue chair with teal colored curtain backdrop. She wears a light teal colored dress and she looks down at her blue eyed Siamese cat in her lap. Signed lower right. Housed in a fine carved and gilt frame. SIZE: 25″ x 30″.
