ATTRIBUTED TO BENJAMIN CHAMPNEY (American, 1817-1907) MT. WASHINGTON. Oil on canvas landscape scene shows the Saco River in North Conway, NH winding through hills leading to a snow capped Mt. Washington. Cows dot the landscape with distant houses. Unsigned front, having an old pencil inscription to stretcher “B. Champney Mt. Washington”. Housed in its original ear of corn motif gesso decorated gilt frame. SIZE: 18″ x 30″. CONDITION: Craquelure with stretcher lines, surface dirt, some chipping. Good. 9-25970 (3,000-5,000)
