ANDREW NEWELL WYETH (American, 1917-2009) “ORCHARD KNOLL, 1956”. Drybrush watercolor landscape scene shows a grass field having the remains of an old apple tree still standing leading up to a stand of dark trees. The view is the back of N.C. Wyeth’s house. Unsigned but listed in the catalog of Andrew Wyeth’s works. Housed with museum quality archival materials. The frame impressed branded “Lowy” (Julius Lowy Frame & Restoring Company of New York). On reverse are a number of labels including Adelson Galleries, New York; Acquavella Galleries, New York; Exhibition label from the University of Arizona University Art Gallery Exhibit March 16 – April 14, 1963. SIZE: 19-1/2″ x 27-1/2″ PROVENANCE: Collection of F. C. Woolworth of Santa Fe, New Mexico, previously in the collection of the Duchess of Manchester. CONDITION: Very good. 9-98438 (125,000-175,000)
