SAMUEL W. GRIGGS (American, 1827-1898) CROSSING THE GORGE. Oil on wood panel scene shows a bridge spanning a waterfall into a deep gorge. A horse drawn buggy crosses left to right following a distant carriage. A man stands just beyond the bridge on a rock peering down into the gorge. The view having a rock cliff on the right side, all under blue and white cloud sky. Signed lower right. Housed in a gesso decorated gilt frame with gold linen liner. SIZE: 24″ x 18″. CONDITION: Minor touch-up. Very good. 9-25969 (3,000-5,000)
