Oil on canvas of a mountainous landscape, with a lake and a farm, with two hunters shooting from behind a fallen tree at a frightened black bear who attempts a hurried escape along the water’s edge. Signed lower and dated “1888”. Also titled, signed and inscribed [in a second hand???] en verso “Scene in Maine”. SIZE: 18″ x 26″.
