CHARLES HENRY GIFFORD (American, 1839-1904) LUMINIST SUNSET OVER COASTAL MASSACHUSETTS. Outstanding watercolor coastal scene shows an outstanding colorful sky from light blue to peach rose reflecting in calm water which shows several sailboats and two men in a small rowboat in foreground. A hillside dune cliff supports several large houses. The sloping hillside having small windmill with house, dock, and building. A break in the land allows for boat traffic and an island is seen to the right. Signed lower right “C H Gifford 95″. The finest watercolor that we have seen by this artist.
