UNSIGNED (American, 19th/20th Century) PAIR OF SOUTHERN COASTAL ENCAMPMENT SCENES. Fine pair of oil on board scenes shows a coastal waterway surrounding points of land. 1) Scene shows a red roof headquarters building flying American flag. In the foreground is a large white tent and sailboat on right side. A large encampment is seen beyond the water with nine buildings and people under an American flag. Open ocean is seen beyond. 2) A similar scene but from a slightly different angle shows a dock with man in boat, headquarters with American flag, encampment on hill and sailboats. Both identically housed in gilt molded wood frames. A fine pair with nice detailed work. SIZE: 9-1/2” x 15”. CONDITION: Cleaned with minor inpainting, very good. 9-27435 (4,000-6,000)
