MARQUES E REITZEL (American, 1896-1963) “THE TRAIL” IN RARE STANFORD WHITE FRAME. FRAME: 3-1/4″ wide frame having a gilt patina surface with multiple bead and line surrounding borders. PAINTING: Oil on canvas scene shows a panoramic view of farmlands and farm in a summer landscape under blue and white cloud sky. Signed lower right. An original Chicago Artist’s 13th Annual Exhibition, 1926 label attached to reverse. We are told that the consignor purchased this painting from a family member of the artist and they said that the artist received 1st prize at this exhibit and was awarded $500 and that the artist was a friend of Stanford White. SIZE: Outside is 22″ x 22″. Inside is 16″ x 16″. CONDITION: Frame is very good with original patina. Painting has surface dirt, very good. 9-92172 (10,000-15,000)
