FRANCESCO BERGMANINI (Italian, 1815-1883) A BUSY TAVERN. Oil on canvas interior tavern scene shows a cellar tavern with large stone archway having groups of people including four men around a table, four men standing in conversation, a young man and woman seated conversing as she plucks feathers from a chicken and a young lady with copper double-handled pot atop her head walks through the center of the scene. A variety of items adorn the scene including a bagpipe below the bench of one of the men and items hanging on the walls. Signed lower left. Housed in what appears to be its original fancy reticulated carved gold frame. SIZE: 20″ x 32-1/4″. CONDITION: Very good with light surface dirt. 9-20894 (10,000-15,000)
