HERMANN OTTOMAR HERZOG (American, 1832-1932) “ROAD BY THE FARM”. Oil on canvas scene shows a wagon being pulled by a brown horse and a white horse. Three people ride in the wagon, they come toward the viewer on a dirt road passing a barn with fenced barnyard. All under colorful trees and blue sky. A gentleman stands next to the fence feeding a small group of chickens. Signed bottom right “H Herzog”. Housed in a fine museum quality reproduction frame. The back having a partial typed label which has been retained and a label from Schwarz of Philadelphia with artist information and indicating it was illustrated in the Philadelphia Collection LVI, Plate 26. SIZE: 14″ x 18″. CONDITION: Some minor inpainting, very good. 9-98291 (15,000-25,000)
