BERNARD POTHAST (Belgian, 1882-1966) HER FIRST DRESS. Unframed large oil on canvas interior scene shows a mother seated and wearing a blue dress with white bonnet helping her youngest daughter into a burgundy color dress while her older sister looks on. The interior is set with a milk cupboard, mirror and two toys on a terracotta tile floor. A small vase of violets is resting on the windowsill on left side of the painting. Signed lower right “B Pothast”. On reverse is a R. C. Vose Paintings, Boston stamp. SIZE: 36-1/2″ x 28-1/2″. CONDITION: Very good. 9-21535 (9,000-12,000)
