LEATHER A-2 FLYING JACKET KOREAN WAR PERIOD. On the reverse side of jacket there is a sewn silk escape flag/blood chit with information stating that the wearer is an American pilot for whose rescue and safe return they will be rewarded. This message is given in Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Manchurian. On the front of the jacket are two “theater made” patches for the 49th Fighter Group and 9th Fighter Squadron who flew F-84’s. The jacket is named to N.C. EVANS, who was a test pilot in the 1950’s. There is no manufactures label in the jacket although the lining is stamped “Jacket Flying Type A-2”. This jacket is shown on page 174 and 175 of “The Art of the Flight Jacket”. SIZE: 42. CONDITION: Leather is in good condition showing moderate wear. The cuffs and waistband appear to have been correctly replaced. 4-50165 CW10 (3,500-4,500)
