ANDRIANUS EVERSEN (Netherlands, 1818-1897) A BUSY TOWN SCENE. Outstanding oil on canvas town scene shows a wide cobblestone avenue lined with shops and having a multitude of men, women and children. In the foreground a boy rolls a hoop, a woman in fancy formal dress walks with dog beside and having a folded parasol. The buildings are shown in great detail and the viewer is drawn to the sunlit buildings at the end of the street where a horse-drawn wagon can be seen. All under a gray and white cloud sky with background in shades of blue. Signed lower left “A. Eversen”. Housed in a gilt carved wood frame with gilt liner. SIZE: 28-1/4″ x 24″. CONDITION: Relined, minor inpainting, very good. 9-20545 (3,000-5,000)
