JOHN JOSEPH ENNEKING (American, 1841-1916) “GREEN TWILIGHT”. Oil on canvas landscape scene shows a wooded area with light at top of trees and foreground with grass leading to rocks. The scene is behind the artist’s house in Hyde Park. Unsigned but on reverse of stretcher is title and Vose Gallery inventory numbers. From a small group of paintings which have been categorized as “mood paintings” by the artist and were mostly done for the artist and not for public sale. Housed in a fine gilt replacement frame stamped “Guido Frame Studio, Boston”. SIZE: 24″ x 30″. CONDITION: Relined. Very good. Some small areas of inpainting. The original canvas, which went over a 22″ x 30″ stretcher has been re-stretched on a 24″ x 30″ stretcher. 9-98425 (5,000-10,000)
