EMILE A. GRUPPE (American, 1896-1978) “OUTWARD BOUND”. Large oil on canvas scene shows a two mast racing schooner heading out of a harbor past a point of land with lighthouse. The schooner is believed to be the Gertrude Thebaud. This schooner was launched in 1930 near Essex, MA. Signed lower right and titled on reverse of stretcher. Housed in its original grain painted frame with linen and wood liner. Note: Accompanying this lot is the original receipt dated “Nov 5, 1975″ from the Emile A. Gruppe Gallery. SIZE: 24″ x 36”.
