FRENCH PRISONER OF WAR BONE CARVED DESK SET WITH NAPOLEONIC THEME. The carved bone pieces are mounted on a cut and beveled corner ebony board which has four carved animal feet. There are four oval canisters, each with a lid having acorn finial. Two appear to be inkwells, one a sander, the other a pen holder. The central area has two cannons with ramrods, surrounding a Napoleanic crest. In front of a pedestal marble urn surmounted by Napoleon’s hat. The urn says A la Gloire Imperissable de Lemperrur Nopoleon le Grand Mort a. St. Helenele. SIZE: 11-1/2” x 7”. CONDITION: Good. Some minor imperfections. 9-95346 (2,000-3,000)
