SETH W. STEWARD (American, 1844-1927) PANORAMIC VIEW OF MOOSEHEAD LAKE. Monumental oil on canvas panoramic scene overlooking Moosehead Lake from Blair Hill. The view shows from left to right Squaw Mountain, Hartford’s Point, Moose Island, and water leading to Deer Island. The foreground having a wood fenced area with cattle, rocks with wildflowers and tall trees. All under a blue and white cloud sky. Signed center bottom in rock “Steward”. Housed in its original outstanding wide and deep period gesso decorated frame. This and the previous lot are the finest examples of Stewards work that we have ever handled. It wonderfully depicts an area in Maine that has and still is visited for its natural beauty. SIZE: 28-1/2” x 49-1/2”.
