HEYWOOD HARDY (British, 1842-1933) PREPARING FOR THE HUNT. Oil on canvas English fox hunting scene shows a number of riders in fancy dress atop horses surrounded by twenty-two hounds. They all congregate around a large inn/tavern with a glimpse across other houses to a low hill with fields. Signed bottom right. Housed in a good carved gilt frame. On the reverse is a tag “Lent by; Mrs. Bernard F. Combemale”. SIZE: 18″ x 27″. PROVENANCE: Woolworth Estate (F.W. Woolworth Dept. Store). CONDITION: Very good with craquelure and a nickel size spot lifting at bottom edge right. 9-21397 (10,000-20,000)
