JOHN SANDERSON-WELLS (British, 1872-1955) AMIDST THE FOX HUNT. Oil on wood panel scene shows one of the fox hunters helping a young lady in black dress mount her white horse. Beside them are five fox hounds leading a group of fox hunters on horses. They are in a field with wall under gray skies. Signed lower left. Housed in a period gesso decorated gilt frame with gilt liner having artist name and front glass. SIZE: Sight: 7″ x 11″. PROVENANCE: Woolworth Estate (F.W. Woolworth Dept. Store). CONDITION: Small flecks which show up white sporadically scene, slight bow to panel, otherwise good. 9-21398 (2,000-4,000)
