UNSIGNED (18th/19th Century) PAIR OF ANCESTRAL PORTRAITS. Half portrait of a gentleman in a green vest and coat with gold buttons. He holds a drafting square in one hand. The woman is seen in a fur collared green dress with lace cuffs, holding a stringed instrument on her lap. Both identically housed in gilt replacement frames and they have been removed from stretchers and applied to a board. O’Brien Art Gallery, Chicago labels to reverse. SIZE: SIGHT: 36″ x 29-1/4″. CONDITION: Woman has paint flaking to left third, surface dirt with restoration behind a masking varnish. The man appears to be good but with a masking vanish. 9-9101791018 (1,000-2,000)
