ERNEST STEPHEN LUMSDEN (British, 1883-1948) “ROUGH SEA”. Large oil on canvas coastal scene shows large wave crashing onto rock ledge with huge plume of sea foam. Rough sea is seen in distance. Anchor is seen on moss covered rock in foreground and smoke from a steamship in distance. Signed lower left “Lumsden 1930-1948”. Titled and signed on back of stretcher. Winsor & Newton’s canvas stamp and James Bourlet & Sons Fine Art label on reverse. Housed in a heavy gesso decorated gilt frame. SIZE: 28” x 36”. CONDITION: Very good. 9-94313 (2,250-2,750)
