ATTRIBUTED TO HOWARD CHANDLER CHRISTY (American, 1873-1952) THE PROTECTOR. Unframed. Oil on board shows a large architectural eagle with head looking right with spread wings, holding a nest of house sparrows. One sparrow perched on eagles knee with bread bit for awaiting mate. Signed lower right “HC”. Probably an illustration with New York artists material label on back. SIZE: 21-1/2” x 16”. CONDITION: Very good. Some chips to corner. 9-96831 (300-500)
