FRANKLIN STANWOOD (American, 1852-1888) SAILING IN CASCO BAY. Oil on board scene shows a large two-mast square rigged ship with several sails on the horizon and with a transitional steam freighter. Well executed sky with billowing white & grey clouds with glimpses of blue. Signed lower left “F Stanwood”. Housed in a period gesso decorated gilt frame with gilt liner. SIZE: Sight: 12″ x 18″. CONDITION: Consolidated paint layer with alligatoring in water and left sky, surface dirt. Should brighten significantly with a cleaning. 9-24800 (1,000-2,000)
