JESSIE WILCOX SMITH (American, 1863-1935) “CHRISTMAS 1920”. Oil on board scene shows young child with halo praying. It is painted to resemble a stained glass window having blue background and geometric left and right border. Signed lower right “Jessie Wilcox Smith”. The board is marked in pencil “Christmas 1920” with notes on colors, etc. Also “December cover 9/19/20” “Return copy & cat to Gd Hskpq” hand written in red pencil. We are not sure whether this was actually used as a front cover to Good Housekeeping or whether it was proposed. Housed in a fine molded wood replacement frame with linen matte. IMAGE SIZE: 16-1/4” x 14-1/4”. CONDITION: Very good. 9-25606 (12,500-17,500)
